Palm Beach County · Delray Beach
Around Lake Ida and the beach the salt air is constant, and a sealed natural stone surface takes it while giving an established home a premium, custom look.
Delray's strength is the east side — Lake Ida, the beach district, Del-Ida Park — where established homes from the 1950s through 80s sit close to the water. These coastal streets have a character of their own, and natural stone suits them: travertine, marble and shellstone give a premium, custom look that reads a step above a manufactured paver.
This close to the ocean, salt and heavy summer rain are hard on porous stone. Unsealed travertine or shellstone stains and etches fast; we seal every stone against the salt, the storms and the sun so it beads off spills and holds its color, and a tumbled surface stays cool enough to walk barefoot by the pool. An occasional rinse and reseal keeps it looking new.
The good news on the east side is simplicity — most of these streets are non-HOA, so approval is usually just the city permit. We pull the City of Delray Beach permit, build the base for the sandy coastal soil, match the stone to the home, and grade the drainage away from it.
Coastal east-side lots put porous stone against constant salt and high summer rain — we seal on install and reseal on a schedule, and set the slope to move heavy rain to the swale or street.
Only if it is left unsealed. Travertine and shellstone are porous, so we seal them on install and reseal on a schedule — sealed stone beads off salt and storm runoff and holds its color this close to the water.
Usually just the city permit. Most of the Lake Ida and beach-district streets have no HOA, so we simply pull the City of Delray Beach permit, handle any drainage requirement, and get to work on the stone.
Tumbled travertine and shellstone stay noticeably cooler underfoot than most manufactured pavers in the summer sun, which is a real advantage on the beach-district and Lake Ida pool decks.
It depends on the stone, the area and site prep, which is why the on-site visit and written estimate are free and itemized. Financing through Wisetack is available so the budget does not decide the timeline.
